Job Responsibilities:
- Assist client with paperwork.
- Interpret all dialogue between the medical provider and the client during clinic visits or between lawyer/courts.
- Assist individual/family in understanding medical or legal practices when they are unclear.

- Ability to travel to various Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro Area locations and work flexible hours on an on-call basis.

The Legal Rights Center, Inc. seeks outstanding candidates for the position of Latino Community Advocate. The Legal Rights Center is a community-based nonprofit providing: criminal defense services for adults and juveniles, restorative justice and other conflict resolution services, and community legal education - all in Hennepin County and all without charge to the client.
The Latino Community Advocate educates and advocates for the Spanish-speaking community, holding regular office hours at C.L.U.E.S. and Centro, as well as at the Legal Rights Center Ð and works with clients, LRC attorneys, and community resources to effectively resolve legal matters and associated problems. The Latino Community Advocate is also responsible for organizing legal education events on matters most affecting the Spanish-speaking community in order to prevent inadvertent legal problems or consumer victimization. This position may also involve working (alongside volunteers) on behalf of other immigrant populations, and helping to provide services to the entire client base of the Legal Rights Center.
Essential
- Fully bilingual, Spanish and English, with Spanish as FIRST language. Deeply rooted in the Hennepin County Spanish-speaking community.
- An inner passion for social justice, quality service, and legal advocacy. Knowledge of immigration issues.

Qualifications:
- Applicant must possess excellent interpreting skills.
- Fluency in Hmong and English.
- Interpreting experience in the medical, mental health or social services areas preferred.
- Experience working in a confidential environment.
- Interested in the advancement of human rights.
- Must be able to work flexible hours between the hours of
9 am – 5 pm, Monday - Friday.
