    Coping with challenging times

    DESCRIPTION:

As interpreters, we frequently find ourselves exposed to the suffering of others. That, combined with our own concerns —be them big or small— can compound our feelings of anxiety and distress. Join us for a guided self-care session to help us release some of the tension.

    Date:         Saturday, February 21st, 2026

     - 10:30 am (CDT)

Location:  Online via Zoom. The link to join the workshop will be provided on Friday, February 20th.

Cost: Free and open to all.

In this one-hour free session open to all, we will:

    • Gain a basic understanding of trauma, secondary trauma, and stress responses
    • Identify and share some effective self-care practices through group discussion
    • Learn and practice a cognitive/thought-based coping tool
    • Participate in a guided mindfulness exercise
    • Learn and practice a muscle relaxation exercise
